学生へのメッセージ

Succeeding in life is easy as long as you believe in yourself. Trust yourself, and success will come along.

Remember that every problem is a challenge to prove yourself and a skill to be developed.

Try to be an inspiration yourself, and nothing else can take you down. Be an inspiration rather than looking for one.

Let your talent shine bright and blind everyone out with its aura. Hold positivity in heart and do well.

Being a good student is less about the ability to rote and more about the desire to learn.

Education is not a safety net. It is the rocket which will propel you towards success. All you have to do is have an aim and work on everything that takes to get a lift-off.

プロフィール(経歴、趣味、等)

My life embodies internationalization. As a dual nationality citizen of both the UK and Canada, I bring personal experience in the field of international culture and communication. I grew up in Toronto, Canada with British parents in a French Immersion education program and have since studied and lived in the USA, the UK and Japan for considerable lengths. Moreover, after high school I took time away from institutional studies to broaden my mind by working around the world before attending university. This 3 year culture-seeking mission took me through the islands of the South Pacific to New Zealand and Australia, then on to South East Asia and eventually over to Europe and the UK where I made good use of my experience by enrolling in the University of East Anglia´s School of International Development. It was here where I double majored in Economics and Social Anthropology with a focus on the developing world.

“Unity within diversity” best describes my ideal work environment: a diversity of characters and personalities to ensure maximum creativity, and a united team with common goals and shared successes.

My hobbies include ice hockey, golf and fishing, travel, cooking and spending time with my family.

研究内容

I have a wide range of interests within the world of Applied English as a Second/Foreign language. Specifically, I’m interested in researching how people learn a second language. This research in turn helps me to create meaningful curriculum for my students. Recently I have become interested in student study abroad programs as well as foreign language Education policy in Japan. My most recent publications reflect this focus:
